Bath & North East Somerset now fully LGCL compliant with MS CMS from Compusys

Bath & North East Somerset Council needed to improve their web presence to ensure that they were compliant with the Office of the Deputy Prime Ministers e-Government initiatives for improving service delivery electronically. By moving the content authoring function out of the IT department, the content would become more accurate AND dynamic as the content experts were all situated in other departments.

Compusys won a competitive tender to provide the content management solution based on Microsoft's Content Management Server platform. As the content was now to be published in the departments, the IT team must ensure that the published pages comply with accessibility guidelines from W3C, Bobby and the RNIB as well as being categorised in line with the Local Government Category Listings (LGCL) for taxonomy. These category listing were the output from a National Project run by the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister and will ensure that content can be re-purposed for use in other systems in the future. Bath & North East Somerset Council started with a page design from a local graphic design agency which was then given to Compusys to form the basis for the .NET templates to be used on the site.
